Connected Domes

A (wireless) network of geodesic dome instruments, where plants and sensors produce music.

Arduino Code for XBeez

You need 2 Arduinos, 2 Xbees (series 1), XBee Shields,
patience and two USB cables.
This code is for 16 Analog Inputs.

HOW TO GET STARTED:

1. UPGRADING THE FIRMWARE:
Upgrade the XBee Firmware by putting the XBee on their shield
and the shield on an Arduino.
Make sure to take off the ATMega chip first. You can take the ATmega chip off yourself,
it's not soldered to the board, but be careful not to bend the legs.
Connect the XBee Shield with Arduino like described here:

data from the okno garden

The idea was to detect bio feedback of plants,
send this data from the garden (over a radio frequency connection)
into okno and transform it into music.

Domes workshop 2: Connected Domes (technology)

Date:
Monday, 17 August, 2009 - 14:00 - Friday, 21 August, 2009 - 18:00

Connected Domes is the tech and electronic part of our geodesic dome experiments.

The plants in the greenhouse domes will be powered and surrounded by sensors (touch, humidity, UV, movement, growth) and the numerous domes will be connected by a wireless network using Arduino micro-controllers and XBee wifi systems. On the dome-structures, recycled computer ventilators will be added, providing a gentle breeze to the leaves, and LED's powered by small solar panels will light up the domes at night.
